LAWFORD, CHURCH WITH KING'S NEWNHAM

The village of Church Lawford lies four miles north west of Rugby. King's Newnham (or Newnham Regis) was originally a royal manor, but enclosures led to the depopulation of the original village. The church of St.Lawrence there was demolished in 1745, but some traces of it remain. There is an old Manor House, and Newnham Hall was built in the eighteenth century.
