Welcome to the Border History website This is the name chosen to represent the societies on this website. We are not a formal body, but an informal group of enthusiasts. In the main we represent the local and family history groups of the area, though lone researchers are also welcome to join us. Our aim is to encourage the growth and development of interest in local and family history in North Staffordshire and South Cheshire by working together wherever we can. Fourteen successful one day fairs have been held at Alsager, Cheshire in 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2008, Leek Staffs 2003, Congleton Cheshire 2004, Biddulph 2005, Audley 2006 Burslem 2007, Alsager 2008, Kidsgrove 2009, Congleton 2010, Biddulph 2011, and Burslem in 2012. The next fair will be held on the 12th OCTOBER 2013 at St. James’s Church Hall & Pensioner’s Hall, Church Street, Audley. between 10.00am and 4pm. Admission will be £1.00. The group is not exclusive. We hope that other societies, groups will join us - many took part in the previous events. If your society or group wishes to be part of the group you will be welcome at our meetings. We work on the basis that all participants will play an equal part: jobs are not left to one or two individuals, but shared on a voluntary basis. At the same time, it is fully appreciated the main interests and concerns of members are their own societies and we intend to retain the informal nature of the group. |
